He ate cheerios?
May 12th, 2008 | By KendraThis past Sunday I went to the nursery to pick up my son. As I was gathering the diaper bag, blanket and son, I asked the worker how he did.
worker : "good. he was a little fussy"
me: "yeah, he’s been teething"
worker : "he loved his cheerios, though!"
me : "cheerios?"
worker: "yeah, he and Paul [another baby in the nursery] sat on the floor and ate their cheerios together. They were so cute!"
me : "he ate cheerios?" (still processing the fact that I was not there to coach my son through this momentous childhood milestone, while the poor nursery worker started to get nervous)
worker: "oh…was he not supposed to have them?" (she walks over to the sign in chart and sees that I circled "no" under cheerios)
worker: "oh, my! I must have read the chart wrong!"
me *laughing at the thought of it* : That’s ok! How funny. We’ve never given him cheerios. So…how did he do with them? Did he like them?" (I thought for sure he would have choked on cheerios)
worker : "good…he took his time with each cheerio…he was very cute"
me: "that’s hilarious!" (*laughing more as I imagined him on the floor eating cheerios with his nursery buddy, Paul)
So…my son crossed a finger-food milestone without me.

That is so funny! I’ve had things like this happen before and you think “how could you move past this milestone without me!”
I just came across your blog and love it, by the way.

Sashwhy, don’t worry, Cheerios are nearly impossible to choke on. They practically melt in your mouth!
