I've been doing it for years, and have never had a problem. It does take a while to fully defrost, usually about two days. But if you put it in the fridge overnight, by morning you will be able to pour some milk out (the rest will still need more thawing out time). I have never had any bad tasting milk after thawing, it's always been fine. I'm not sure how long it will stay good frozen, but the way we drink milk around here, we've never had time for any to go bad! If you find a great deal on some milk, stock up and try it out. He didn't ask a manager though... I'm wondering if the employee was planning on buying the expiring milk herself. The next time I'm in I'm going to ask the manager, just in case.
