Stored In CVS

3 Gallons of milk for $2.44!

It has been a long time since I’ve gone CVSing. I believe it was in June when I last went. I just haven’t really had any extra money to spend, and I used up all of my ECB’s before they were to expire. But after the past few weeks of me and the kids being sick, I was able to benefit from having to fill prescriptions, by using two “Free $25 Gift Card with Prescription Transfer” coupons. So, now I have $50 in CVS gift cards to spend. And I want to spend them wisely, squeezing every last penny of them!

Sunday was the perfect time for me to go and start CVSing again, with the awesome freebies they had (hope you were able to get in on them!). I also scanned the milk case, and found several gallons that were expiring. I got three of them, since I knew I didn’t have room for more in my freezer. I also got the Cover Girl Wetslicks AmazeMint (free after ECB’s). So here’s how it went down:

Used these coupons for Cover Girl Face Makeup and Outlast Lipcolor = FREE

Used $1 off any Cover Girl coupon from Sept. P&G (for the Wetslicks) = FREE plus $1 overage (after ecb’s)

Milk 3 gallons for $1.99 each

Used $2/$10 coupon

My total out of pocket: $8.43

ECB’s earned: $5.99

So, it’s like I got the three gallons of milk for $2.44!! That’s awesome!

But I’m such a dork! I guess I’ve been out of it too long, I made a couple of mistakes. First of all, I only got one Outlast Lipcolor, instead of two! So, I got one free, but I should have gotten two. Bummer! And I totally blew it and used cash instead of the gift cards. Ugh! Oh well. So, now I have some ECB’s to start rolling, and my $50 GC still. I’m going to try to not use any more cash out of pocket! I’ll have to pay more attention next time!

I had the gift cards too and loved it! I got the first one when I bought a $3 RX so it was well worth it! I used it to fill another more expensive RX and used that one to get a variety of items. I am new to CVSing so I am sure that I can learn some-I was there Sunday and did not even know about the freebies and I forgot all about the AmazMint deal! Oh, well!
    Great deals!!!!

BTW, I am so bummed, I bought milk at our CVS yesterday and it was 4 days until it expired so they did not do the deal-I needed it so I bought it. At least it was free on the GC. Thanks for the tip about the milk though!

I’m wondering why it looks like you poured out some milk from each of the plastic gallon bottles? I also freeze gallons of milk and have never had a problem with overflow. The plastic allows for the milk to freeze and also because it is a flexible material it stretches to accomadate the expansion. I was told that opening the milk before freezing it is not recommended as this could introduce bacteria. Just curious.

    Stacey-

Very observant! I do pour some milk out before I freeze them. Honestly, I’ve never tried NOT pouring it out. I’ve been afraid of over-expansion. But thanks for the tip! Maybe I’ll try your way next time.

I also freeze milk without pouring any out with no problems. :)
