Stored In Saving Money- Frugal Ideas

Advice from the Frugal Queen herself: My Sister

I can hardly categorize myself with the coupon-clipping, deal-grabbing divas out there that actually make money when they go grocery shopping – no, I have not learned their ways…yet.

One of my greatest role models in frugal-land is my sister. She’s a machine. After I got married, she wrote down a few (I guess she didn’t want to overwhelm her poor, ignorant sister just yet) simple ideas on how to save money.

For you die-hard frugal-mommas out there, please humor me: look at the list, laugh if this is just the tip of the iceberg of your vast wealth of knowledge and experience on the subject, and then give more suggestions on how we newbies can save more money. Those of you who are like me, ENJOY…

1) Check out Freelancebyu.com – they have a lot of freebies on their forum

2) Eyeslipsface.com – all makeup $1.00! Ship flat rate $5.00.

3) Use homemade cleaning supplies. You can find recipes online.

4) Unplug everything not in use to cut down on electric bill

5) Use washcloths instead of paper towels.

6) Teenfreeway.com has test drive offers – you can get gift cards and money

7) Freecycle.org – lists freebies

8.) Use reward credit cards for money back

9) Plan menus to cut down on impulse buying or eating out. Make double
recipes and freeze extras for another day.

10) Make your own baby wipes. Buy Viva paper towels (bulk pack), cut
each sheet into 4ths. Boil a cup of water. Take off burner and add 1
Tbsp of each: baby lotion, baby oil, and baby shampoo. Mix well. Put
cut up paper towels in container and pour mixture over. So much cheaper
than store bought!!

11) Order water when eating out, or share a drink. Split a meal. Or
order lunch specials.

12) If you don’t have a Sams or Costco membership maybe you can find a
friend who does, and you guys can buy bulk items together and split
them and the cost.

13) Call the 1-800 number on the back of products that you use and give
them your feedback on their product. They usually will get your name
and address and send you lots of good coupons in the mail, sometimes
even free stuff!

Well, there it is! Thanks, Sis! You’re great :)
